This renewal course covers the safe access and egress to telecoms masts and towers with retraining on undertaking a single line emergency rescue to recover a casualty.

Basic Tower Climbing & Rescue Renewal is a renewal course primarily focusing on the safe access and egress to telecommunications masts and towers and the ability to undertake a single line emergency rescue to recover a casualty.
All persons with a current valid EUSR Basic Tower Climbing and Rescue certificate, who are within the telecoms and utilities industries, who are required to climb open steelwork as well as work outside the confines of a safe working platform and require renewal should attend.

Theory
• Understanding legislation and safety standards
• Assessing risk
• Managing common hazards
• Developing rescue plans
Practical
• Pre use inspection including the fitting of harnesses
• Pre use inspection of fall arrest lanyards
• Pre use inspection of work positioning lanyards
• Tying and use of knots
• Inspecting and use of fixed fall arrest systems
• Using additional fall prevention equipment
• Climbing techniques
• Inspecting rescue equipment
• Managing suspension syncope
• Selecting rescue techniques
• Self-rescue
• Remote rescue/casualty lower
• Casualty pulley/haulage system – off weighting
• Snatch/cut away rescue
• Undertaking rescues
• Selecting anchor points
Certification Method: Continual Practical Assessment & written test. Delegates are allowed 2 attempts to pass the written test.
Certification valid for 1 year. Approved by MATS/EUSR
Prerequisites
Current valid EUSR Basic Tower Climbing and Rescue course qualification. Delegates must be physically fit and hold an in date Medical, be 18 years old or over and have a head for heights (climb up to 30m).
