This course covers the installation of microwave links and includes rigging the antenna and outdoor unit, cable and indoor unit installation and panning.

Prerequisites

Attendees should have valid industry required qualifications which include: Rooftop Safety & Access, Radio Frequency Awareness, Basic Tower Climbing and Rescue, Emergency First aid at Height and competency in rigging, ideally having completed a Rigging and Lifting Course.

Attendees must also be currently physically fit and free from any medical condition that could prevent them from climbing and have a head for heights. Protective footwear & gloves are required for the practical elements of the course.

Syllabus:

The course covers many areas including:

  • Elements of Haulage/Lifting/Lowering Techniques
  • PIV familiarization including correct labelling and critchley spec
  • Assembly of ODU and antennas
  • Bracket Assembly and configuration
  • Mounting of bracket and ODU onto Poles
  • Cable preparation (N-type connecters, does and donts)
  • Weather proofing of connecters, ODU and cable earths
  • Link installation and decommission
