This course details safety instructions which ensure, when followed that worker’s exposure to RF fields will be within the applicable safety limit. It covers the types of radiation, sources of radiation and measures to prevent exposure. Unlike other RF safety courses this course also has a practical element which tests the individuals on identifying hazards, RF signs and symbols, antenna recognition and the use and testing of RF monitor equipment.

For individuals who are required to work where radio signals may be transmitted such as on or near buildings, rooftops or masts.

  • What is radio frequency (RF)?
  • The effects of non-ionising radiation
  • The effects of ionising radiation
  • Sources of RF radiation
  • The human body's direct & indirect effects
  • National & International Guidelines, ICNIRP, Limits, EEC
  • Field monitors
  • Safety policies
  • Exclusion zones/compliance zone

Practical

  • Identifying RF signs and symbols
  • Identifying RF hazards
  • Antenna recognition
  • Use and testing of RF monitors

Certification Valid: 3 years

Prerequisites

Protective footwear and gloves are required for the practical elements of the course.

All attendees should be medically fit to work.
