Pole Top & Ladder Rescue

This course focuses on the safe access and egress to pole tops and buildings via temporary ladders teaching the ability to rescue and recover a casualty.

Description

Pole Top & Ladder Rescue focuses on the safe access and egress to pole tops and buildings via temporary ladders giving the learners the ability to undertake a single line emergency rescue to recover a casualty.

The course is directed towards engineers who undertake both SDU & MDU work streams and geared towards field service engineers.

This course should be attended by all those with a competent, proven and certified background working from poles and temporary ladders to ensure they fulfil theirs requirements under law relating to W@H and the ability to rescue.

Course Syllabus:

Theory
• Understanding legislation and safety standards
• Assessing risk
• Managing common hazards
• Developing rescue plans

Practical
• Pre use inspection including the fitting of harnesses
• Pre use inspection of fall arrest lanyards
• Pre use inspection of work positioning lanyards
• Tying and use of knots
• Using additional fall prevention equipment
• Climbing techniques
• Inspecting rescue equipment
• Managing suspension syncope
• Selecting rescue techniques
• Self-rescue

• Selecting and creating anchor points
• Remote rescue/casualty lower – pole top
• Remote rescue/casualty lower – ladder

Certification Method: Continual Practical Assessment. 

Delegates are allowed 2 attempts to pass the practical assessment.

Certification valid for 1 years.  Approved by High Work

Prerequisites

All delegates must have completed SA001 – Safety Overhead course. 

Delegates must be physically fit and hold an in date Medical, and be 18 years old or over.
